Ballet 3.0
About this Artwork
‚Ballet 3.0‚” is an animated virtual sculpture created through experiments with emerging technologies. Since parts of the composition evoke the curve of a swan‚Äôs neck, the piece is accompanied by a short remix inspired by Swan Lake, referencing classical ballet while translating its elegance into a contemporary digital language. The work also engages with how historical cultural forms can be reinterpreted through new technologies and new spatial contexts.
The work reflects ARtivism through experimentation with forms of art that exist outside traditional physical and institutional boundaries. By placing a virtual sculpture into public space through augmented reality, the piece explores how new technologies allow art to inhabit the city itself rather than remain confined to galleries or screens.
For me, AR also has a political dimension. For artists working from Eastern Europe, access to global exhibition spaces has historically been limited by geography and institutional gatekeeping. Augmented reality offers a way to bypass these barriers and place work directly into the public sphere, reaching audiences across borders. In this sense, ‚Ballet 3.0‚” participates in ARtivism by using technology to challenge traditional structures of visibility in the art world and to help create a more open, decentralized cultural landscape.
