The Anthropocene Vanitas: Ecological Displacement

The Anthropocene Vanitas: Ecological Displacement

About this Artwork

Drawing from the ‘Vanitas’ tradition of the 17th century, this work reimagines the transience of life within the context of the Anthropocene. The composition replaces organic decay with industrial permanence‚Äîintertwining botanical forms with electrical conduits against a backdrop of systemic pollution. By using Augmented Reality to ‘plant’ this imagery in public spaces, the project challenges established narratives of urban progress and invites a direct dialogue with the viewer. This is ARtivism: art without physical restriction that sits on top of the city to champion environmental awareness.
