The ocean eyes
About this Artwork
An abstract work touching upon the issue of plastic (trash) pollution in the ocean. The transparent glasses, resting on the edge of a pool (or body of water), symbolize human indifference or a “transparent” view of the problem. Reflected in the dark lenses, as in a mirror of polluted water, are the “Ocean’s Eyes” – a desperate, all-seeing gaze of nature. Bright blue and turquoise tones dominate, conveying the aquatic environment, while the artificial reflection and material of the glasses emphasize the conflict between the purity of nature and the traces of human presence. The rainbow (or a dirty-rainbow-like) horizon in the background could symbolize either hope or the effect of oil slicks, abstractly hinting at the problem further.
